Green Expo (July 23 & 24, 2010)
In keeping with our company's tradition, culture, and ongoing commitment to Environmental stewardship, Algoma Power once again participated in the annual Green Expo at the arena in Desbarats. We promoted our company's involvement in conservation programs such as Power Pledge. The Great Refrigerator Roundup, and Power Saving Blitz. We also focused on safety around our power lines with the Hazard Hamlet display, which was a great hit, especially with attending children. We also provided information related to our forestry practices.

Farmer's Market (August 17 & 31, 2010)
We presented a Farmer's Market at our Sault Ste. Marie office location on two days in August 2010 - August 17th and 31st and associated with the first market we provided a barbecue for the customers where donations are solicited. We identified environmentally focused organizations within our service area to promote and for whom the proceeds from these donations are received. API is happy to support these organizations and the local Farmer's Market.

Algoma Power Inc's Play Safe Program
Public Safety is important to Algoma Power. Through this program, youth are encouraged to develop positive safety habits at an impressionable age in order to protect themselves by wearing the proper protective equipment while enjoying outdoor activities.
The Sault Ste Marie Police, OPP and Anishinabek Police Services are on the lookout in the summer months for kids who are playing safely and are obeying all the safety rules. Whether kids are bicycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, swimming or playing in the play ground and doing all the right things, Officers patrolling our service area may stop and present a certificate, courtesy of Algoma Office Equipment to reward the child. A coupon is also presented redeemable at Lock City Dairies in Sault Ste. Marie or Young’s General Store in Wawa for an ice cream treat. The coupon is then entered into a draw for a chance to win one of ten bicycles donated by Algoma Power Inc. each year. Canadian Tire (SSM) generously donates helmets and locks for each bike won. Radio stations Q104 and EZ Rock generously promote this program throughout the summer.
Play Safe Program Thank You to sponsors - 2009
So kids, enjoy a fun filled summer and make sure you play safe!
United Way Campaign
Algoma Power Inc. is a long-time and strong supporter of United Way and congratulates all those involved with conducting and supporting the annual campaign. We encourage you to contribute also.
For the goal of the annual United Way Campaign, the approach has changed and it will not be listed this year as a monetary amount. Instead the goal is 30% participation from the community....of the people and organizations that are approached. In our community, one in two people use United Way services and one in five financially support the United Way.
To those of you who have made your gift, Thank You. To others we ask you to seriously consider making a gift today! With your donation YOU give back to our community and ensure that the 22 member agencies deliver the over 50 programs and services that 1 in 2 members of our community will need.
