We're responsible for reading your meter to calculate the charges on your bill. We do this on a set schedule depending on your service classification. We will carry out this responsibility regardless of who you buy your electricity from.
If the meter reader can't get access to your meter, you may be asked to provide a reading to us.
You may be requested to provide a key to Algoma Power Inc. (API) to access the meter. At API's discretion, meters that are not accessible, may be requested to be moved to an accessible location at the customers' expense.
Before installation, all electricity meters must meet strict accuracy requirements set by Measurement Canada. Once installed, meters are periodically checked by Algoma Power Inc.and Accredited Meter Verifiers to ensure they continue to give accurate readings.
If you are concerned that your meter may be not be accurate, contact Measurement Canada for an inspection.
